Creekside #4 – Catskill - June 2026
.

Disclaimer: this perspective is written a month after it happened. A Friday dinner date with a Monday morning departure for England left near zero room for the write-up. Sorry, Creekside, for the mediocre coverage and for the lack of details. And I send my regrets to my dining colleagues for a distance-blighted account.

After reconnoitering around a Plan A that took no reservations and would not offer separate checks, the Notar pick found Creekside. It should have been a quiet, restful dinner beside the Catskill Creek but the weather gods had other ideas.

Just as we arrived, a storm came through, with strong winds, cool temps, and a light rain making al fresco not desirable. Had we arrived a half hour later, we would have been outside. So, in we went to a center table with a calming view of the Creek.

However, true to its reputation, the noise level was deafening and we shouted to be heard. Still, somehow, Creekside always proves to be a worthy destination.

I have forgotten which foods we might have considered (other than going online to check Creekside menu which is difficult to do with no website and a poor Facebook presence), nor what we drank, but I do remember Kriss and I again sharing the only ordered dessert of the evening – a chocolate lava cake.

Ambiance is open, bright, and cheery; service, from what I remember, was competent once again; food choices are worthy.

The price, I think, was of medium range, with $75 per couple possible; I later heard $125 was one bill.

And topics of discussion are lost with the tides of the Hudson and with the gardens of the Lake District of England.  My regrets for DP8 #262.
